Fultonvale School has the unique situation of being located directly adjacent to the Strathcona Olympiette Centre which accommodates a curling rink, hockey arena, small skating rink, meeting rooms, and baseball diamonds. The school and Olympiette Centre are the focus of the surrounding acreage and farming community.
Phased Occupational Construction
To maintain operations of the school and adjacent Olympiette Centre a dedicated phasing plan was developed to ensure operational efficiencies and ensure students of all ages would be able to attend the facility safely. High intensity or risky activities such as asbestos abatement and demolition were planned for the summer months when the school was unoccupied. Planning also allowed for the provision of temporary relocation of both modular classrooms and playground.
Mechanical and Electrical Overhaul
As part of the modernization, a complete overhaul of mechanical and electrical systems was required including hydronic heating, displacement ventilation system, expansion of controls, and a new automatic fire suppression system. Electrical modernization included all lighting fixtures, fire and security systems, upgraded data cabling, and life safety systems.
